Maxwell Martin shines on the Challenge Tour

On the 20th July, Maxwell Martin took part in his very first Challenge Tour event - Big Green Egg German Challenge which was powered by VcG based at Wittelsbacher Golf club in Germany, which is fifty minutes outside of Munich.

Finishing 11th overall, this marks a huge achievement for the future, playing against a strong competition which featured Spain’s Manuel Elvira and Italy’s Francesco Laporta, who went on to win.

The champion holes covering 6,775 metres are a unique sporting challenge.

Maxwell said:

“ It went really well, I’m proud to think I finished 11th in a top class event, playing in swirling winds which everyone struggled with. I was a little apprehensive going in to this tournament, and was 37th going into the final round. I couldn’t have played any better, it was my birthday weekend as well, so we had plenty to celebrate.

The focus now for Maxwell will be on the Clutch Tour, playing in the event 9-11 August at Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort. The eventual winner will have to overcome the Hunting Course’s stern challenge if they are to earn victory during the special tournament.

Slaley Hall has a fruitful relationship with professional golf, as it has hosted notable events throughout its expansive history, including 20+ European Tour, Senior Tour and PGA Cup events, with the most recent professional involvement coming from the PGA EuroPro Tour.

Furthermore, Slaley Hall welcomed the Asian Tour in 2022; the venue was the first to feature in the International Series in England.
